Saudi Arabia Plans 15 Stadiums for 2034 World Cup

Saudi Arabia is preparing to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup across five cities, with a plan that includes 15 stadiums. The host cities are Riyadh, Jeddah, Al Khobar, Abha, and NEOM, spreading the tournament across different regions of the Kingdom.

Riyadh is set to have the largest share with eight stadiums, followed by Jeddah with four. Al Khobar, Abha, and NEOM are each planned to have one stadium, completing the total of 15 venues.

The stadium roadmap combines existing and new facilities. Four stadiums already exist, three are currently under construction, and eight are planned as new builds, reflecting a large-scale program of sports infrastructure development ahead of the tournament.

Beyond the five host cities, the plan calls for additional locations to support the event as team base camps. These include AlUla, AlMadinah, Al Baha, Tabuk, Hail, Umluj, Buraidah, Taif, Jazan, and Al Ahsa, extending the tournament's footprint across much of the country.

For residents and expats, the scale of preparation signals wide-ranging benefits, from new venues and transport links to expanded hospitality and tourism opportunities. Communities in and around the host cities and base-camp locations are likely to see significant activity as the Kingdom moves forward with one of its largest sporting projects to date.
