Saudi Arabia Rises to 29th in Global Tourism Index

Saudi Arabia has advanced to 29th place globally in the 2026 Travel & Tourism Development Index, cementing its position among the world's top 30 tourism markets.

The new ranking marks an improvement of three places compared with 2024 and a jump of 17 places since 2019, reflecting the pace of growth in the Kingdom's tourism sector in recent years.

Tourism spending across the country reached SAR304 billion in 2025, while domestic and inbound visitors totaled approximately 123 million during the same year. Momentum has continued into 2026, with domestic tourists reaching roughly 28.9 million in the first quarter alone — a 16% increase compared with the same period in 2025.

Why it matters

For residents and expats, the rise signals a broader push to expand travel and leisure options across the Kingdom, in line with the goals of رؤية السعودية 2030. Steady growth in domestic tourism points to more destinations, activities, and seasonal events becoming available to families and visitors alike.

It is worth noting that the ranking itself does not introduce any new visa fees, service charges, validity periods, or procedures. Nor does it set any specific venue prices, operating hours, or attraction details. Anyone planning a trip should confirm current information directly through official channels before booking.
