The regular Saudi Sports Sector Conference reviewed a series of achievements and upcoming priorities across the Kingdom, covering club development, sports facilities, infrastructure projects, the Clubs Support Strategy, and commercial-revenue initiatives.
Among the completed works, Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University Stadium in Riyadh was finished and expanded to more than 25,000 seats. King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh is also undergoing development, with a first phase supporting preparations for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup and a planned second phase to meet the requirements of the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
Support for clubs and facilities
The conference outlined the Clubs Support Strategy across different sports. A club that meets all of the strategy's criteria could receive around SAR 120 million in support. A separate commercial-revenue initiative, valued at SAR 54 million, covers commercial activities and sponsorships to help clubs grow their own income.
On the facilities side, 17 sports venues were prepared to host the 2026–27 Saudi Pro League season, while 51 sports-facility projects were reported as under construction, development, or rehabilitation.
For residents and fans across the Kingdom, the updates point to more modern venues and expanded seating capacity ahead of major tournaments, along with a clearer framework aimed at strengthening clubs both on and off the field.
