6,000 Runners Mark National Day in Historic Jeddah

Around 6,000 Saudi citizens and expatriates took part in the Green Spirit Run through the heritage streets of Historic Jeddah (Al-Balad) on Friday, September 18, 2026, bringing a festive Saudi National Day atmosphere to one of the Kingdom's most iconic districts.

The run was organized by Masafat Club in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports, the Saudi Sports for All Federation, and Jeddah Historic District. It featured two routes: a 5 km course for professional and amateur runners, and a 2 km course designed for families and children.

The routes wound past the landmarks and traditional streets of Historic Jeddah, giving participants a chance to combine physical activity with the area's cultural heritage. The family-friendly distance made the event accessible to a wide range of ages and fitness levels.

Community running events like this one continue to grow in popularity across the Kingdom, supporting wider efforts to encourage active, healthy lifestyles. By staging the run in Al-Balad, organizers linked the celebration of national pride with one of Jeddah's most treasured heritage settings.

The strong turnout underlined the appeal of open, inclusive sporting activities that welcome both residents and visitors, and reflected the enthusiasm of Jeddah's community for gathering in shared public spaces.
