Saudi Arabia has confirmed a hosting blueprint for the 2034 FIFA World Cup built around 15 stadiums spread across five host cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, Al Khobar, Abha, and NEOM. The portfolio combines four existing venues, three currently under construction, and eight planned new builds.
The capital carries the largest share with eight stadiums, followed by Jeddah with four, while Al Khobar, Abha, and NEOM will each host a single venue. Capacities remain indicative and may be adjusted as designs are finalised ahead of the tournament.
Key venues
In Riyadh, the new King Salman International Stadium is set to become the country's national stadium, with a planned capacity of roughly 92,000 and a role as the primary venue for the opening match and the final. The existing King Fahd International Stadium is to be renovated to around 68,000–70,000 seats, while new builds include the South Riyadh Stadium (about 47,060), Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium (about 46,979), and the New Murabba Stadium (about 46,010). Renovation work is also planned for Prince Faisal bin Fahd Sports City Stadium and King Saud University Stadium, each near 46,000 capacity, alongside a further Riyadh-area venue.
In Jeddah, the existing King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, known as "The Jewel," will be upgraded to around 62,000 seats as part of the coastal cluster.
For residents and expats across the Kingdom, the plan signals years of major stadium construction and upgrades that will reshape sporting and entertainment infrastructure in Riyadh, Jeddah, and beyond, creating jobs and long-term venues well before the first ball is kicked in 2034.
