Total banking loans extended to Saudi Arabia's private sector and non-financial government institutions reached SAR 3.54 trillion by the end of July 2026, an annual increase of about 7% from roughly SAR 3.32 trillion a year earlier.
The bulk of the lending went to the private sector, which received around SAR 3.266 trillion, up nearly 6% year-on-year. Loans to non-financial government institutions stood at about SAR 274 billion, rising a little over 4% over the same period.
The private sector accounts for slightly more than 92% of total bank loans, while non-financial government institutions make up roughly 8%. The SAR 3.54 trillion figure covers loans, advances, and overdrafts as part of overall bank credit.
Why it matters
The steady rise in lending points to continued expansion in financing activity across the Kingdom, supporting business growth and ongoing investment tied to رؤية السعودية 2030 projects. Private sector credit growth is currently running at about 6–7% annually, alongside continued expansion in government-related lending.
These are system-wide figures reflecting total banking credit, not a retail product. They do not carry customer-facing fees, validity periods, or specific application steps. Loan pricing, fees, tenors, and application procedures for individuals and companies are set by individual banks and finance companies under regulatory supervision, and are not part of this aggregate data.
