Net loans of Saudi Arabia's 10 listed banks rose to about SAR 3.25 trillion (roughly USD 865.2 billion) in the second quarter of 2026, up 7% compared with a year earlier and about 2% higher than the previous quarter. The increase points to continued lending growth to the private sector.
Total bank credit across the Kingdom reached about SAR 3.42 trillion (around USD 912 billion) in June 2026, a rise of 7.3% year-on-year. Loans to the private sector and non-financial government entities together stood at about SAR 3.52 trillion, up 7%, while loans to the private sector alone were about SAR 3.26 trillion, also up 7%.
The aggregate credit portfolio of Saudi banks ended the quarter at about SAR 3.29 trillion, up around 7% from about SAR 3.08 trillion a year earlier. Several individual listed banks recorded double-digit annual loan growth, with sector-wide expansion running at around 7% through May and June.
Corporate lending drove much of the gain, reaching about SAR 1.964 trillion in June, up 1.41% month-on-month and 9.9% year-on-year. Retail loans totaled about SAR 1.455 trillion, easing 0.12% month-on-month but rising 4.0% over the year. Outstanding credit card balances climbed to about SAR 34.4 billion in the quarter, up 12.1% year-on-year, reflecting steady consumer borrowing.
Bank claims on the private sector reached about SAR 3.27 trillion in June, up 6.8% from about SAR 3.06 trillion a year earlier, while claims on the public sector rose 7.8% to about SAR 930.1 billion.
For residents and businesses, the figures signal healthy access to financing across corporate and consumer segments, supporting activity in line with the Kingdom's broader economic goals.
