Saudi Arabia's operational data-center capacity has climbed to 467 megawatts in the first quarter of 2026, up from 440 megawatts in 2025 and just 68 megawatts in 2021, The number covers all data centers in the Kingdom.
The 467 MW figure spans more than 60 facilities operated by over 20 companies. The jump from 68 MW in 2021 represents growth of more than 600% in about four years, driven by cloud, artificial intelligence, and hyperscale projects being built inside the Kingdom.
Cumulative capital investment in Saudi data centers and related digital infrastructure exceeded roughly SAR 56.2 billion by mid-2026. Government planning documents and market trackers for 2025–2030 place current live capacity within the 400–500 MW band, with a development pipeline of well over 1 to 2 gigawatts of additional capacity expected to be delivered before 2030.
Why it matters
Stronger data-center capacity underpins faster cloud services, local hosting, and AI applications used by businesses and residents across Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam. Wider infrastructure supports everyday digital services, from streaming and e-commerce to enterprise systems.
Licensing, permitting, land allocation, and utility connections for data centers are handled through sectoral ministries and national investment platforms, not through citizen-service portals. As of 2026, there are no published official per-megawatt or per-rack national fees specific to data-center capacity beyond standard electricity, land, licensing, and zoning charges; pricing is set commercially and varies by location, tier, and service model.
