Financing approved for Saudi Arabia's gaming and esports sector reached SAR 421 million (about USD 112.1 million) by the end of the fourth quarter of 2025, supporting the development of more than 127 digital games and benefiting 82 entities across the Kingdom.
The funding was deployed through the Gaming and E-sports Sector Financing Program, an initiative with a total potential financing value of up to SAR 1.8 billion aimed at local startups and small and medium-sized enterprises. The program falls under the National Gaming and Esports Strategy and the Digital Content Program (Ignite), in line with the economic diversification goals of رؤية السعودية 2030.
Beneficiaries include Saudi-incorporated game development studios, esports organizations, and supporting service companies. The program specifically targets local small and medium developers and high-risk, long-return-cycle enterprises that have historically struggled to access traditional bank financing.
Funds and Support Instruments
The program combines debt financing facilities for SMEs with equity investments made through specialized venture funds. A first fund of SAR 300 million (about USD 80 million) is dedicated to equity investments in gaming and esports companies, while a second fund of SAR 150 million (about USD 40 million) is designed to stimulate private-sector investment locally, bringing the combined venture fund value to SAR 450 million.
Support also extends beyond capital, with incubation and accelerator opportunities offering mentorship, training, market access, and publishing introductions. Among these is the "Level Up" gaming accelerator at NEOM in the northwest of the Kingdom, whose cohort includes funded studios building projects for global markets.
For residents and expats working in or entering the creative and tech industries, the growth signals expanding opportunities in one of the fastest-developing digital sectors in the country, as the Kingdom moves to build a competitive local gaming and esports ecosystem.
