Saudi Instant Transfers via Sarie Hit SAR 7 Trillion

The value of instant money transfers processed in Saudi Arabia through the national instant payment system, Sarie, reached SAR 7 trillion in June 2026, a 26.1% increase compared with SAR 5.5 trillion recorded in June 2025.

Sarie operates around the clock, 24/7, enabling low-value domestic transfers of SAR 20,000 or less. Its continued growth reflects how quickly residents and businesses across the Kingdom are shifting toward fast, digital-first payment options.

How the system works

For quick transfers, users can send up to SAR 2,500 using an alias or IBAN without needing to add and activate a beneficiary first. Larger instant transfers, up to SAR 20,000, can be sent to saved or activated beneficiaries. Accepted identifiers include IBAN, mobile number, national ID or Iqama number, email address, and the unified number for commercial establishments.

What it costs

electronically initiated transfers cost SAR 7 for same-day and SAR 5 for next-day. Branch-initiated transfers are higher, at SAR 25 for same-day and SAR 15 for next-day. There is no publicly documented 2026 change to these fee caps or transfer limits.

For the community, the appeal is convenience: money moves instantly at any hour without visiting a branch, whether paying a friend, settling a bill, or transferring funds between accounts. The sharp year-on-year rise underlines how central instant payments have become to everyday financial life in Saudi Arabia.
