Saudi Investors Back Emerald AI's $150M Round

Two Saudi-linked investors have joined a major funding round for a US artificial intelligence company. Aramco Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of Saudi Aramco, and The Olayan Group, a Saudi-headquartered private investment group, both participated in a USD 150 million Series A round for Emerald AI, a Washington, DC-based technology firm, in August 2026.

The oversubscribed round was co-led by Energize Capital and DCVC, with a broad group of strategic and financial investors taking part. The funding values Emerald AI at USD 1.05 billion and brings the company's total capital raised to date to more than USD 220 million.

Emerald AI develops software designed to turn AI data centers into flexible resources for the electricity grid. Its platform coordinates AI computing workloads and onsite energy resources so data centers can reduce or shift their power use when grids are under stress, while keeping computing performance steady. The new capital will support the company's efforts to expand development and deployment of that platform.

Why it matters

As demand for AI grows, data centers are placing heavy loads on power grids around the world. Technology that helps balance this demand is drawing strong interest from global investors, including funds tied to the Kingdom. The participation of Aramco Ventures and The Olayan Group reflects continued Saudi engagement with advanced technology sectors internationally.

The transaction is a private venture capital investment carried out at the corporate and fund level. It does not involve any Saudi-specific government fees, digital service channels, retail pricing, or visa and permit processes for residents.
