Saudi Women's Community Sports Participation Rises

Saudi women are taking part in community sports and fitness programs in growing numbers, supported by initiatives under Vision 2030 that include women's sports leagues, expanded funding, physical education for girls, and municipal community-sports projects.

Community sports refers to non-professional physical activities aimed at delivering health and social benefits rather than competition at an elite level. Across major cities, women-only gyms now operate in both Riyadh and Jeddah, giving residents more options to stay active in comfortable, dedicated spaces.

What memberships cost

Membership prices vary by facility. Typical women-only and premium facilities range from SAR 100 to SAR 300, while premium options can cost between SAR 250 and SAR 450 or more. Some chains offer lower entry points: GymNation Ladies, with Jeddah locations in Al Marwah and Al Zahra, reports memberships starting at SAR 99 per month with no contract and 24/7 access. PureGym Women, with branches in Al Safa and Al Zahra in Jeddah, also reports no-contract memberships from SAR 99.

Other operators include Fitness Time women's facilities, generally ranging from SAR 150 to SAR 300, and Gold's Gym women's facilities at selected locations, generally from SAR 170 to SAR 225. For those preferring flexibility, day passes in Jeddah are reported at SAR 22 to SAR 79, while Riyadh day passes range from SAR 35 to SAR 80, with Fitness First women's day access reported at SAR 69.

The growth in women's participation reflects wider efforts to make an active lifestyle more accessible across the community. With a range of price points and locations, residents in Riyadh and Jeddah have more choices than before to join a gym or a community sports program that fits their schedule and budget.
