Saudia Cargo is entering a new phase of technological and operational expansion, combining a major fleet growth plan with wider use of artificial intelligence to support Saudi Arabia's goal of becoming a global logistics hub linking three continents by 2030.
The company is preparing to add four Boeing 777-200F freighter aircraft to its dedicated cargo fleet over a period of a little more than two years, a move described as doubling the size of its dedicated freighter fleet. Broader plans point to increasing freighter capacity through to about 2028, both by expanding the freighter fleet and by optimizing bellyhold capacity on passenger aircraft.
On the technology side, Saudia Cargo now uses AI algorithms to forecast cargo demand, manage capacity, and optimize cargo weight and load distribution. AI and algorithm-based management of loads and cold chains has cut operating costs by more than 15% and improved delivery-time accuracy in volatile global e-commerce markets.
The company has also rolled out AI-powered tools for dynamic pricing, demand forecasting, shipment tracking, and automated quotations. Through a digital air-freight platform, it has integrated AI "workers" into its commercial operations, reporting about a 68% reduction in quote turnaround time and roughly 89% first-quote accuracy.
Why it matters
For businesses and residents who rely on fast, reliable shipping, the expansion signals faster quotes, more predictable delivery times, and greater cargo capacity moving through the Kingdom. The plan aligns with رؤية السعودية 2030 and the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aim to grow air cargo volumes and strengthen Saudi Arabia's position in key global markets.
No government platform steps or official ريال سعودي fee schedules have been announced specifically for these AI services or the fleet expansion.
