Sela, ICON Saudi Plan Luxury-Yacht Facility in Jeddah

Sela and ICON Saudi signed a memorandum of understanding on 25 September 2026 at the Monaco Yacht Show 2026 to develop a specialized luxury-yacht maintenance facility in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The planned facility is intended to provide major yacht-maintenance services closer to Red Sea operating areas. it aims to build Saudi technical capabilities, transfer international expertise, and reduce reliance on overseas facilities, particularly those in Europe.

The facility is designed to support Jeddah Yacht Club & Marina along with Red Sea destinations, including AMAALA and Shura Island. Jeddah Yacht Club & Marina, located in the Jeddah Corniche area, has a reported capacity of 95 berths for yachts ranging from 10 to 100 metres.

Why it matters

For yacht owners and operators active in the Red Sea, a local maintenance hub could mean shorter travel distances for major servicing and reduced dependence on European yards. The plan also points to new technical and specialized job opportunities as international know-how is transferred to Saudi teams.

It is important to note that this is a memorandum of understanding, not confirmation that the facility is operational. No construction site, opening date, capacity, service catalogue, customer procedures, prices in Saudi Riyal, maintenance fees, payment terms, or agreement validity period has been announced.
