The Ministry of Sport has launched the new edition of its Sports Clubs Support Strategy for the 2026–2027 sports season, marking the eighth year of the program. The updated strategy, announced in August 2026, sets out how funding will be channeled to clubs across the Kingdom during the coming season.
The plan is built around seven key initiatives: direct support, various (multi-) sports, governance, fan attendance, facility development, digital transformation, and increasing commercial revenues. Allocations for the season include SAR 953 million for direct support, SAR 541 million for the governance program, SAR 517 million for various sports, and SAR 99 million for fan attendance.
A new commercial revenue growth initiative has been introduced for 2026–2027 with SAR 54 million in funding, providing SAR 1,000,000 for each Roshn League club and SAR 500,000 for each Yelo League club to help clubs build stronger income streams. Facility development and digital transformation are also confirmed pillars of the strategy.
Across the broader Clubs Support Strategy, the total plan for 2026 stands at around SAR 1.7 billion. Of this, about SAR 1.04 billion is set aside as direct support to Saudi Pro League (Roshn) and first- and second-division clubs. Roshn League clubs receive SAR 47 million annually for public clubs and SAR 45 million for private clubs, while first-division clubs get SAR 6 million each and second-division public clubs receive SAR 2.787 million each. A club meeting all requirements of the strategy can obtain between SAR 100 million and SAR 120 million in total support for the season.
For the community, the strategy signals continued investment in local clubs, with a clear focus on strengthening their financial and operational efficiency and ensuring long-term financial sustainability. It also aims to grow fan attendance and commercial revenues, helping clubs become more self-reliant over time.
