The Saudi Cabinet has approved cancelling the government correspondence platform known as “Murasalat” and establishing a new unified system for exchanging official letters and documents between government entities. The decision, issued as Cabinet Decision No. 246 dated 5/3/1448 AH (28 August 2026), also repeals a related clause in an earlier Cabinet resolution.
Under the decision, the “Murasalat” platform is permanently suspended and closed. In its place, a new National Government Correspondence Platform will be developed as the single, unified channel for exchanging official correspondence and documents between government bodies.
Officials describe the move as part of a broader effort to modernize and unify electronic correspondence across government, reducing reliance on multiple, fragmented platforms. The new national system is intended to enable secure electronic exchange, tracking, storage, and retrieval of government letters, files, and documents without paper, with improved efficiency and security.
Why it matters
The change is internal digital infrastructure used between government agencies, not a paid retail service offered to citizens or businesses through channels such as أبشر, مقيم, قوى, ناجز, or نفاذ. No user fees or prices in ريال سعودي have been announced for either the cancelled platform or the new one.
The decision references an earlier formal request from the Minister of Communications and Information Technology to close “Murasalat” permanently and create the national platform, pointing to a structured transition from the old system to the new one. Oversight of the transition is linked to the Digital Government Authority and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, in line with earlier restructuring that consolidated legacy government digital programs under the same authority.
