Volunteers from the Saudi Ministry of Sports delivered more than 160 services to pilgrims during the Hajj 2026 season, as part of a wide-reaching effort to support worshippers at the holy sites.
A total of 6,348 male and female volunteers took part through 78 volunteer opportunities, benefiting more than 247,000 pilgrims. The volunteers completed over 31,000 service hours under the supervision of 14 field coordinators.
Why it matters
The scale of the volunteer programme reflects the growing role of community participation in supporting Hajj operations each year. For residents and expats across the Kingdom, initiatives like this offer an organised way to contribute during one of the busiest periods of the year.
Those interested in volunteering during Hajj and Umrah seasons can apply through the official Kun Awana volunteering portal when opportunities are open. No fee was reported for the services provided to pilgrims during this season.
