Fintech company Tabby has obtained a consumer finance licence and an SME finance licence from the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA), expanding the range of locally regulated lending options available in Saudi Arabia. The move builds on Tabby's existing Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) licence, which it secured after graduating from SAMA's regulatory sandbox in 2025.
Under the new licences, customers in Saudi Arabia can finance purchases above SAR 2,000, with limits reaching up to SAR 50,000 and repayment spread over as many as 12 monthly instalments. The longer-term plans are structured as Shariah-compliant Murabaha, with the total cost fixed and disclosed upfront, no compounding of charges and no late fees. Eligibility, fees and APR vary by plan and are shown at checkout.
Tabby's shorter-term option of four interest-free monthly payments for lower-value purchases remains available alongside the new products. Previously, its BNPL service focused mainly on smaller purchases such as clothing, footwear and lower-cost airline tickets, with typical caps around SAR 5,000. The new licences extend financing to higher-value items over longer terms.
Where it applies
Longer payment plans are already live across partner retailers in Saudi Arabia, including نون, Fitness Time, Almanea, IKEA, Almosafer, Almatar and طيران ناس, on eligible purchases above SAR 2,000. Access is available through Tabby's app or online checkout with partner merchants.
The SME finance licence allows Tabby to provide working capital financing to retailers and smaller e-commerce businesses on its platform, particularly those below the minimum size usually served by commercial banks. Tabby is among the licensed finance companies supervised by SAMA, which directs consumers and merchants to its official website for the current list of authorised BNPL and finance providers.
For residents and expats, the expansion means access to larger-ticket, longer-term instalment options within a locally regulated framework — offering more flexibility for higher-value purchases while keeping costs transparent from the outset.
