Saudi Arabia is expanding a nationwide push to prepare young citizens for future jobs through the Human Capability Development Program, one of the key programs realizing رؤية السعودية 2030. The program focuses on instilling values, building basic and future skills, and enhancing knowledge for Saudi citizens across all stages of education and work.
Among the most notable steps, a national artificial intelligence curriculum is being rolled out across all levels of public education starting from the 2025–2026 academic year, with AI introduced as a mandatory subject. more than 13,000 teachers have been trained in AI applications, while a national professional development platform has benefited over 470,000 educators.
Skills, jobs and entrepreneurship
The program was launched with 89 initiatives and 16 strategic objectives, built around four pillars: Identity Strengthened, Foundations Built, Readiness Enhanced, and Leadership Renewed. Its goals include improving equal access to education, aligning educational outputs with labor market needs, expanding vocational training, and boosting youth readiness for employment.
Newer initiatives include a platform offering short micro and nano degrees lasting six to seven weeks in fields tied to the Saudi labor market, with courses accredited by employers and international training bodies to create fast-track routes into jobs. Selected Saudi tech founders are also being sent to global innovation hubs such as Silicon Valley and Berlin for intensive boot camps and growth programs.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development supports the program through 5 indicators and 15 initiatives, alongside backing from the Human Resources Development Fund (HADAF). Program targets include lowering unemployment among Saudi nationals, raising Saudization in high-skilled roles, increasing female economic participation, and ensuring more technical and vocational graduates find work within six months.
For families, students and job seekers across الرياض, جدة and beyond, the initiatives signal a growing focus on practical, in-demand skills — from AI literacy in classrooms to faster pathways from training into employment.
