The seasonal influenza vaccination campaign is now active across Saudi Arabia for 2026, with shots available at Ministry of Health hospitals, primary health care centers, and designated adult vaccination clinics. The vaccine is provided free of charge to both citizens and residents, with no fees for the shot itself.
Health authorities are urging high-risk groups to get vaccinated ahead of winter. Targeted groups include people with chronic conditions affecting the heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, along with those living with diabetes and neurological disorders. The campaign also prioritizes people over 50, children aged 6 months to 5 years, pregnant women, individuals with severe obesity, immunocompromised patients, and healthcare workers.
How to book your appointment
Appointments can be booked through the Sehhaty application by selecting the seasonal influenza vaccine service, then choosing a preferred date, time, and vaccination location. The vaccine is given as a single intramuscular dose. For added convenience, residents can also access a free home-vaccination initiative through the Sanar application, scheduling a visit at their chosen location and time.
The current seasonal flu shot used in the Kingdom is a quadrivalent vaccine that protects against four influenza viruses. Vaccination is estimated to reduce the risk of infection by 70 to 90 percent, and significantly lowers the chances of severe illness and hospitalization.
For those planning to perform Hajj in 1447 AH (2026), the seasonal flu vaccine is recommended for pilgrims and participating healthcare workers who have not received a shot after 1 September 2025. With winter approaching, getting vaccinated early offers the best protection for individuals and their families across the community.
