Both Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli launched the 2026–27 Saudi Pro League season with victories on the opening round, played in Riyadh across the weekend of 13–14 August 2026.
Al-Hilal opened their campaign with a 4–2 home win over Al-Faisaly at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh on Friday 14 August at 21:00. The venue currently hosts the club's home league matches and has a listed capacity of 26,090 spectators.
A day earlier, on Thursday 13 August at 21:00, Al-Ahli claimed a 1–0 away win over Diriyah Club in Riyadh. Eduard Spertsyan settled the match with a debut goal, giving the Jeddah-based side a winning start away from home.
