Arab Sailing Championship Concludes in Jeddah

The 2026 Arab Sailing Championship for the Optimist class was held at the Jeddah Sailing Center on the South Abhur coast in Jeddah, running from September 17 to 21, 2026. The fleet races continued through September 21, and the championship has since concluded.

The event brought together about 90 young sailors, aged between 8 and 15, representing 13 Arab countries. The competition placed the spotlight on the region's emerging talent in one of sailing's most popular junior categories.

The Optimist class is widely used to introduce children and teenagers to competitive sailing, making the championship an important stage for developing future athletes across the Arab world. Hosting the fleet races in Jeddah reflects the city's growing role as a venue for regional water sports events.

The coastal setting of South Abhur, known for its favourable sailing conditions, offered a fitting backdrop for the multi-day competition. For local families and sailing enthusiasts, events of this kind help build interest in maritime sports and encourage youth participation.

No public admission fees, ticket prices, visitor-booking steps, or spectator timetables were identified for the event.
