43 Drivers Open Saudi Toyota Hill Climb 2026 in Taif

Forty-three drivers took to the start line for the opening round of the Saudi Toyota Championship Hill Climb 2026, held at the Al-Mohammadiyah Hill track in Taif Governorate. The event was organized by the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation (SAMF), with Toyota as title sponsor.

The hill climb format sees competitors race against the clock on closed hill roads, with practice sessions preceding the official timed runs. Drivers competed across multiple vehicle classes, and Mamoon Al-Qabbani claimed first place in the opening round.

The 2026 season includes at least two hill climb rounds, both staged in Taif, with the second round set for Aqabat Al-Muhammadiyah in the Al-Shafa area. Interest in the discipline has grown noticeably, with the grid expanding from 43 competitors in the first round to 54 in the second.

What it means for fans

Hill climb events are among the more accessible motorsport experiences in the Kingdom. Earlier rounds in Taif have offered spectator entry tickets from around SAR 20, typically held in the evening, with free public viewing areas at some events.

The championship rewards its top competitors with a GR86 MT car for the overall first place, alongside cash prizes totaling around SAR 50,000 distributed among category winners. Driver registration, licensing and vehicle compliance are handled through SAMF's sporting regulations and federation channels, with all cars required to meet technical and safety standards. The return of the hill climb leg to Taif with expanded grids reflects the discipline's steady growth within the wider Saudi Toyota Championship calendar.
