Flash Flood in Makkah Kills Child, One Missing

Flash floodwaters in Makkah swept away three children during rainfall, leaving one child dead and another missing while rescue teams continued their search,

Civil Defense teams managed to rescue one of the three children. A second child was later found dead, while the third remained unaccounted for as search operations continued in the affected area.

Authorities said the incident occurred when rainwater accumulated rapidly and swept the children away, a danger that often appears with little warning in valleys and low-lying areas.

Civil Defense urged residents to stay away from valleys and places where rainwater collects during periods of rain. The warning comes as a reminder of how quickly fast-moving water can become life-threatening, especially for children.

For families across the Kingdom, the incident underscores the importance of following safety guidance during rainy weather. Residents are advised to avoid crossing flooded roads and valleys, keep children away from water-prone areas, and respond promptly to any alerts issued during storms.
