A wide-reaching golf development initiative in Saudi Arabia is putting new focus on introducing the sport to women and girls, part of a broader push to grow community-level participation nationwide. The programs span schools, malls, parks, and dedicated clubs across the Kingdom.
At the heart of the effort is a mass participation strategy that aims to bring golf into school curriculums, targeting around 135,000 school participants by 2025, with continued expansion into 2026. Community outreach includes a goal of roughly 700 "try golf" events at malls, parks, sporting events, and concerts, designed to welcome families, women, and girls.
Ladies First Club
The Ladies First Club initiative offers complimentary memberships to 1,000 Saudi women, covering golf lessons, driving range access, and full 18-hole rounds across three courses: Riyadh Golf Club, Dirab Golf Club on the outskirts of the capital, and Royal Greens Golf & Country Club near Jeddah. Members receive free beginner lessons, monthly ladies clinics led by a golf professional, a digital "Introduction to Golf" learning pack, and monthly seminars. The top 12 performers earn a full year-round membership at their chosen course, while social mornings featuring Pilates, yoga, and wellbeing sessions add an extra draw.
Clubs taking part are also expected to run weekly junior golf camps for about 30 children, with a minimum quota reserved for girls to guarantee female participation.
Go Golf reaches thousands
The free Go Golf program has already drawn more than 3,000 Saudi women into formal golf training, with total registrations across its programs passing 6,000. The initiative offers no-fee sessions to Saudi citizens, aiming to remove cost barriers at the community level. Participants register through the official online portal and attend clinics and simulator training at venues nationwide, often integrated with major tournaments and community events.
The expanding programs reflect a growing effort to make golf accessible to more families across the Kingdom, in line with wider goals to develop grassroots sport and encourage active lifestyles.
