Saudi mining company Maaden has closed US$1 billion in inaugural international syndicated financing facilities to support mining and industrial projects in Saudi Arabia. The package is split evenly into a US$500 million term loan and a US$500 million revolving credit facility, roughly SAR 3.75–3.8 billion in total at recent exchange rates.
The US$500 million international term loan is earmarked for the company's growth agenda, general corporate purposes, and funding growth projects across its mining and industrial portfolio inside the Kingdom. The US$500 million revolving credit facility is structured as committed additional funding capacity and is expected to remain undrawn under normal circumstances, effectively serving as a financial safety cushion.
Both facilities are international syndicated, senior unsecured loans denominated in US dollars, arranged with a group of banks from multiple jurisdictions including the United States, Canada, Europe, China, and Japan. The company says the deal is intended to diversify its funding sources and expand access to global capital markets while it pursues long-term growth in Saudi mining and downstream industrial projects.
Why it matters
The financing reflects continued momentum in the Kingdom's mining sector, positioned as a pillar of economic diversification under national development goals. Public disclosures do not specify detailed fee structures, margins, interest rates, or exact maturity dates for these facilities.
These are corporate financings arranged at company level through Maaden and participating banks' internal and international banking channels. They are separate from the company's recent international sukuk activity, which has included a US$1 billion 10-year sukuk at a 5.25% fixed profit rate and a US$1.25 billion sukuk program with 5-year and 10-year tranches. The syndicated loan package does not involve retail government e-platforms and does not affect individuals or small businesses.
