NEOM Stadium Plans Placed on Indefinite Hold

Plans for the proposed NEOM Stadium, designed to seat around 46,000 spectators, have been placed on indefinite hold following an infrastructure review. No construction-completion date has been announced.

The venue had been planned as part of The Line in NEOM, with an unusual design that would have positioned it more than 350 metres above ground level. Its projected cost was reported at approximately SAR 9.4 billion.

The hold has been linked to project delays and a scaled-back development plan for The Line. Because the stadium is not currently operating, no fees, ticket prices, opening hours, or visitor procedures apply at this stage.

Why it matters

The stadium was among several venues associated with Saudi Arabia's hosting of the 2034 FIFA World Cup. The wider venue plan remains subject to revision, meaning the list of host facilities and their timelines could still change.

For residents and football fans across the Kingdom, the pause signals that major projects tied to large-scale developments are being reviewed and adjusted as plans mature. Saudi Living will share verified updates as further official details become available.
