A youth training camp in Riyadh aimed to turn young gamers into game creators, through a collaboration between King Salman Science Oasis and Savvy Games Group. Held at King Salman Science Oasis on King Abdullah Road in Al-Raed district, the Next Gen Games Camp carried the theme “From Player to Game Maker.”
The camp introduced participants to the fundamentals of game design and development while building wider skills such as teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving. It was organised across age tracks, including a Junior Track for ages 10 to 13, with the registration system automatically assigning each participant to the appropriate track based on age.
Families who wished to take part could register by creating an account through the King Salman Science Oasis camp registration page, entering the participant's details, and completing payment where required. The available information did not state a fixed fee in Saudi Riyal. Participation was limited to the scheduled camp dates, with no general visa, permit, or membership validity attached.
Why it matters
Programmes like this reflect the growing focus on digital skills and the gaming sector among young people in the Kingdom, giving children and teens a structured, hands-on route into creative technology. For families in Riyadh, it offered a practical way to channel an interest in games into real design and development learning.
The 2026 edition of the camp has now concluded. For details on future programmes, King Salman Science Oasis can be reached on 011 483 0404 or 055 063 0404. The venue operates Sunday to Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and again from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
