PIF Domestic Investments Top $199 Billion Since 2021

Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund has reported that its cumulative domestic investments in the Kingdom's priority non-oil sectors have surpassed USD 199 billion over the 2021 to 2025 period, marking a major milestone in the country's economic diversification drive.

The investments are spread across a wide range of strategic sectors, including tourism, entertainment and sports; urban development and real estate; advanced manufacturing, industrials and logistics; and technology, telecoms, media and artificial intelligence. Additional funding has flowed into mobility and transportation, healthcare, food and agriculture, utilities and renewable energy, financial services, and metals and mining.

The figure reflects steady growth from prior years. By the end of 2024, cumulative investments in priority domestic sectors since 2021 had passed USD 171 billion, before climbing above USD 199 billion by the close of 2025. Under its 2021 to 2025 program, the fund targeted annual domestic investments of around USD 40 billion

The program also set ambitious economic goals, including a cumulative non-oil GDP contribution of about USD 320 billion (around SAR 1,200 billion) through portfolio companies, and the creation of roughly 1.8 million direct and indirect jobs across the Kingdom by 2025. Between 2021 and 2024, the fund's cumulative contribution to real non-oil GDP reached about USD 243 billion, representing close to 10% of Saudi Arabia's non-oil economy.

Why it matters

For residents and businesses in Riyadh, Jeddah and beyond, this scale of investment translates into new jobs, expanded services, and growing sectors such as tourism, healthcare and technology. The fund's assets under management stood at around USD 900 to 913 billion by year-end, underlining the pace of development shaping daily life and opportunities across the country.
