Saudi Arabia has appointed Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud as Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, He will hold the portfolio alongside his current role as Minister of Energy.
Under the same royal order, Bandar Alkhorayef was relieved of his position as Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources and appointed Minister of State and member of the Cabinet, tasked with overseeing the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI).
With Prince Abdulaziz holding both portfolios concurrently, the Kingdom's energy, industry, and mineral resources sectors are now consolidated under a single ministerial leadership. Officials describe the move as part of Saudi Arabia's ongoing economic diversification efforts and its Vision 2030 strategy.
What it means for residents
The change is a leadership reshuffle within the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources. For residents and expats, it does not introduce any new fees, procedures, or changes to government services.
No adjustments to platforms such as Absher, Muqeem, Qiwa, Najiz, Nafath, or Tawakkalna are linked to the appointment, and there are no new user steps or validity periods to note. Saudi Living will continue to report any developments that affect the community.
