The Red Sea Museum in Historic Jeddah, Al-Balad, concluded its youth summer camp, known as Red Sea Lab, on 29 August 2026. The five-day program brought together 25 children aged between 10 and 14 for hands-on learning focused on protecting the marine environment.
Over the course of the camp, which ran from 25 to 29 August 2026, participants developed five projects and prototypes centered on protecting coral reefs and reducing pollution and marine waste. The young participants worked through practical challenges tied to the health of the Red Sea.
The program combined science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with coding, robotics, environmental research, mapping, and prototype development. This mix gave the children a chance to explore real environmental problems while building technical and creative skills.
Why it matters
Programs like Red Sea Lab connect young residents in Jeddah with the natural heritage on their doorstep. By turning marine conservation into practical projects, the camp encourages a new generation to think about the future of the Red Sea's coral reefs and coastline.
Hosting the camp inside Historic Jeddah also ties environmental education to one of the city's most significant cultural districts, offering families in the community a locally rooted, learning-focused activity for their children during the summer.
