Riyadh Hosts UNESCO Global AI Ethics Forum

Riyadh brought together more than 6,300 participants from over 50 UNESCO Member States for the fourth edition of the UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, held at The Ritz-Carlton, Riyadh, from 14 to 17 September 2026.

Organized under the theme “Transforming Global Cooperation for Ethical AI Governance,” the forum was co-hosted by UNESCO, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), and the International Center for AI Research and Ethics (ICAIRE). Registration for the event was handled through ICAIRE’s official platform.

The gathering placed the Kingdom at the center of a global conversation on how artificial intelligence should be developed and governed responsibly, drawing officials, researchers, and specialists from around the world to discuss shared standards and cooperation on ethical AI.

For residents and the wider community in Saudi Arabia, the forum reflects the country’s growing role as a host for major international events focused on technology and innovation. As AI increasingly shapes public services, business, and daily life, discussions around clear ethical guidelines are directly relevant to how these tools are used across the Kingdom.
