Saudi Arabia has officially designated 2026 as the Year of Artificial Intelligence, positioning AI as core infrastructure across healthcare, energy, government services, defence, and education under رؤية السعودية 2030. The move underlines a national push to rank among the world's top three AI markets by the end of the decade.
The total AI investment envelope under رؤية السعودية 2030 stands at roughly USD 40 billion (about SAR 150 billion), committed by public funds, government entities, and foreign partners. National programs aim to generate around SAR 147 billion in annual AI sector revenues by 2030, contributing an estimated 12–12.4% of non-oil GDP.
New data centers in Riyadh and Dammam
A dedicated AI infrastructure company, HUMAIN, under the Public Investment Fund, oversees a wider state allocation of about SAR 375 billion (USD 100 billion) for AI infrastructure, data-center clusters, and specialized hardware from 2023 onward. HUMAIN is building 11 large data centers, each around 200 MW, across twin campuses in الرياض and الدمام, with initial operations beginning in 2026 and a five-year target of 500 MW of active AI capacity.
Longer-term compute targets reach 1.9 GW by 2030 and 6 GW by 2034, with the goal of handling roughly 6–7% of global AI training and inference workloads. A structured national plan allocates about SAR 93 billion across infrastructure, talent, research, government adoption, industry programs, data infrastructure, and governance.
By early 2026, AI-related commitments from Saudi public and private entities exceed USD 20 billion, including major data-center projects and hyperscaler cloud regions. Government spending on emerging technologies rose more than 56% in 2024, and AI companies have secured around USD 9.1 billion in funding. For residents and businesses, the expansion is expected to boost local cloud services, digital government tools, and job opportunities across the Kingdom.
