Saudi Arabia to Host 2034 FIFA World Cup

Saudi Arabia has been confirmed as the host nation of the 2034 FIFA World Cup following an uncontested bid, in a landmark moment for football in the Kingdom and the wider region.

The tournament is planned to be staged across five host cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, Al Khobar, Abha, and NEOM. A total of 15 stadiums are committed for the competition, spread across these cities to welcome teams and fans from around the world.

Stadiums by city

Riyadh is set to carry the largest share with eight stadiums, including the new King Salman International Stadium, designed with a gross capacity of 92,760 and designated to host both the opening match and the final. Other Riyadh venues include King Fahd Sports City Stadium (70,200 after refurbishment), South Riyadh Stadium, Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium in Qiddiya, Prince Faisal bin Fahd Sports City Stadium, King Saud University Stadium, New Murabba Stadium, and ROSHN Stadium.

Jeddah is planned to feature four stadiums: King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, Qiddiya Coast Stadium, Jeddah Central Development Stadium, and King Abdullah Economic City Stadium. Al Khobar will host matches at the new Aramco Stadium, Abha at King Khalid University Stadium, and NEOM at the NEOM Stadium.

For residents and expats across the Kingdom, the announcement signals years of preparation ahead, with new venues, expanded transport links, and hospitality projects expected to reshape several cities. The World Cup aligns with broader development goals under رؤية السعودية 2030 and is likely to bring significant activity to Riyadh, Jeddah, and emerging destinations such as NEOM in the coming decade.
