Saudi Bank Loans Rise 7% to SAR 3.52 Trillion

Bank loans extended by Saudi banks to the private sector and non-financial government entities rose to about SAR 3.528 trillion by the end of June 2026, up from around SAR 3.284 trillion a year earlier — a year-on-year increase of 7%,

Loans directed specifically to the private sector accounted for the bulk of this total, reaching approximately SAR 3.266 trillion by end-June 2026, also up around 7% compared with June 2025. Banks' claims on the private sector stood at roughly SAR 3.265–3.27 trillion, growing about 6.8% from around SAR 3.057 trillion a year earlier.

Within those claims, total bank credit to the private sector was near SAR 3.156 trillion, of which loans, advances, and overdrafts made up about SAR 3.134 trillion, while discounted bills accounted for around SAR 22.5 billion.

Looking at total credit to both private and public sectors combined, the figure reached roughly SAR 3.419 trillion in June 2026, up about 7.3% year-on-year. Retail loans came in near SAR 1.455 trillion, while corporate loans stood at about SAR 1.964 trillion.

For residents and businesses across the Kingdom, the steady growth in lending signals continued access to financing for households and companies, supporting economic activity, spending, and expansion.
