The Saudi senior national basketball team delegation arrived in Doha on Saturday, 15 August 2026, to open a preparatory camp and take part in the "3 Nations Friendly Games," an international friendly tournament bringing together Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
The tournament runs from 20 to 22 August 2026 at the indoor hall of Al Janoub Stadium in Doha. It features three matches, each with a 7:00 pm tip-off: Qatar face Bahrain on 20 August, Bahrain meet Saudi Arabia on 21 August, and Qatar take on Saudi Arabia on 22 August.
Saudi Arabia is competing as the sole representative of the Kingdom in the event, which is organized by the Qatar Basketball Federation as a three-team international friendly.
Why it matters
The Doha camp is part of the national team's wider preparation program ahead of two major targets. The first is the next window of the FIBA Asia Qualifiers for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027, to be hosted by Qatar. The second is the team's participation in the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games in Japan.
The coaching staff is using the closely scheduled friendly matches to raise players' technical and physical readiness and to evaluate individual performances before the upcoming official competitions. For Saudi basketball fans, the tournament offers an early look at the squad's form and shape as it builds toward its regional and continental commitments.
