Saudi Committee Backs Table Tennis, Cycling Growth

The Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee has approved a new initiative aimed at strengthening Olympic and Paralympic sports within local clubs across the Kingdom, developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Sport and the national sports federations.

The initiative covers 12 sports federations and is designed to provide clubs with technical and administrative support, structured athlete-development programs, equipment, and expanded opportunities to compete.

Among the sports set to benefit are table tennis and cycling, both recognized Saudi Olympic disciplines. Each has its own national federation responsible for running development and competition programs, and both stand to gain from the broader support package offered under the plan.

Why it matters

For residents and families looking to get involved in sport, the push to build up club-level programs could mean more accessible pathways for young and aspiring athletes. Strengthening grassroots infrastructure, coaching, and equipment is a key step toward raising competitive standards across multiple disciplines.

The initiative reflects an ongoing effort to widen participation in Olympic and Paralympic sports and to give clubs the tools they need to identify and develop talent. At this stage, no specific enrollment steps, fees, registration charges, or program schedules for table tennis or cycling development programs have been announced.

Saudi Living will share further details as official information on how clubs and athletes can benefit becomes available.
