Saudi Forces Arrest 14,434 Illegal Residents in a Week

Saudi security forces arrested 14,434 illegal residents across the Kingdom during a single week running from 20 to 26 August 2026, as part of ongoing nationwide field campaigns to enforce residency, labor, and border security regulations.

the arrests included 6,976 people for violating the Residency Law, 4,110 for breaching the Border Security Law, and 3,348 for violating the Labor Law. Separately, 1,450 individuals were arrested while attempting to enter the Kingdom illegally, and 44 were arrested while trying to leave the country through unofficial routes.

The same period saw a large volume of follow-up procedures. A total of 14,905 illegal residents were deported, while 18,914 violators were referred to their diplomatic missions to obtain travel documents. Another 2,867 violators were referred to complete their travel reservations ahead of departure.

Why It Matters to the Community

For the millions of expatriates living and working in the Kingdom, these figures are a reminder of the importance of keeping residency and work status fully in order. Ensuring that iqama, work permits, and sponsorship details remain valid helps residents avoid penalties, detention, or deportation.

The campaigns are conducted continuously across all regions, and authorities have repeatedly urged residents to complete their legal procedures through the Kingdom's official channels and to report any violations. Saudi Living advises members of our community to regularly review their documentation and stay compliant with the relevant regulations.
