Saudi Summer 2025 Draws Over 32 Million Visitors

Saudi tourism officials have reported a strong summer season for 2025, with more than 32 million domestic and international visitors heading to destinations across the Kingdom, including Riyadh and Jeddah. The figure marks a 26% jump compared with summer 2024.

Visitors spent a combined SAR 53.2 billion during the season, reflecting continued momentum in the sector as more travelers explore local attractions, coastal cities, and cultural sites.

Building on a Record Year

The summer results add to a strong overall performance. In 2024, the Kingdom welcomed 116 million domestic and foreign tourists, including about 30 million inbound visitors. Domestic travelers made up the bulk of activity, accounting for 74.3% of total tourists, with domestic spending reaching SAR 115.28 billion.

Among inbound visitors in 2024, religious travel led at 41.5%, followed by leisure at 25.2% and visits to friends and relatives at 20%. The average spend 669, covering dining, transport, shopping, entertainment, and visits to religious and cultural sites in cities such as Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and Jeddah.

City Highlights and Ongoing Campaigns

At the city level in 2024, Makkah recorded 19.57 million visitors and Riyadh drew 2.86 million. Jeddah Season 2024 attracted more than 1.7 million visitors over 52 days, with a focus on Red Sea tourism.

The national "Color Your Summer" campaign, running until September 2025, aims to attract 4.1 million visitors and generate SAR 73 billion in tourism spending, supported by 600 new tourism products and improved air connectivity. Momentum carried into early 2025, with 9.6 million international tourists in the first quarter, up 2% year-on-year, and international tourism spending of SAR 52 billion, up 14%.

For residents and visitors alike, the growth signals more choices for summer travel, wider entertainment options, and expanded services in the Kingdom's leading destinations.
