Saudia Cargo has launched a new direct freighter service connecting Riyadh with Melbourne, with operations starting on 25 July 2026. The route links King Khalid International Airport in the capital with Melbourne International Airport in Australia.
The service is a scheduled cargo link dedicated to freight, and does not carry passengers. It adds a direct air-freight corridor between Saudi Arabia and Australia, giving shippers on both ends a new option for moving goods.
Why it matters
A direct freighter connection can shorten transit times and simplify logistics for businesses that trade between the two markets. For companies in Riyadh, the new link offers a more direct channel for exporting and importing goods to and from Australia, potentially reducing the need for transfers through third-country hubs.
The launch also reflects the continued expansion of Saudi Arabia's air-cargo network as the Kingdom builds out its role as a global logistics hub. As the route settles into regular operation, importers, exporters and freight forwarders in Riyadh and beyond will be watching how it fits into their supply chains.
Businesses interested in using the service should check directly with the carrier for schedules and booking details.
