A large team of volunteers from the Saudi Ministry of Sports took part in serving pilgrims during Hajj in 2026, delivering a wide range of organizational and community-service activities across the holy sites.
The program brought together 6,348 male and female volunteers, who provided more than 160 services through 78 distinct volunteer opportunities. More than 247,000 people benefited from these efforts during the pilgrimage.
Volunteer participation exceeded 31,000 hours over the course of the season, with activities organized and supervised by 14 field coordinators to ensure services reached pilgrims smoothly and efficiently.
Why it matters
The initiative reflects the growing role of community volunteering in supporting the annual pilgrimage, one of the largest gatherings in the world. By combining organizational support with direct community service, volunteers help ease the Hajj journey for hundreds of thousands of pilgrims.
Residents interested in volunteering during Hajj can submit applications for Ministry of Hajj and Umrah opportunities through the official “Kun Awana” volunteer portal.
