Taif Camel Festival: First Trophy Races Over SAR 6M

The historic Taif Camel Racing Field will host the first trophy (crown cup) races of the eighth Crown Prince Camel Festival 2026 on a Saturday in early September 2026, coinciding with the conclusion of the Haqayiq category. Total prize money for the concluding evening session exceeds SAR 6 million, at SAR 6,100,000.

The evening session features six crown cup races, with prizes awarded to the top five finishers in each. First-place amounts range from SAR 400,000 to SAR 700,000. The winner of the “Ramz Baqar – General” race takes SAR 700,000, while winners of “Ramz Baqar – Open” and “Saudi Production – Baqar General” each receive SAR 500,000.

During the same stage, general morning and evening heats carry SAR 90,000 distributed among the top 10 finishers. The Haqayiq category concludes with 92 heats and a total prize pool of SAR 13.3 million, including the closing night.

A festival of record prizes

Overall, the eighth edition comprises 248 races with total prizes exceeding SAR 50 million. A new Crown Prince Camel Festival Cup for Saudi participants debuts in 2026, awarding SAR 500,000 to the competitor with the highest points across races.

Later categories include Al-Laqaya, with a SAR 10.85 million pool over three days, and Thaniya, with 20 races and prizes exceeding SAR 5.3 million — 16 morning races worth SAR 1.36 million and four evening cup races carrying over SAR 4 million. The final day features the “Al Saif” and “Al Bandaq” trophies for the Al Heil and Al Zamoul categories, with a pool of SAR 10 million. For heritage enthusiasts and families in the region, the festival remains a major seasonal draw celebrating a cornerstone of Saudi tradition.
