The National Program to Combat Commercial Concealment carried out 5,161 inspection tours across all regions of Saudi Arabia during August, targeting non-compliant commercial establishments as part of ongoing nationwide enforcement.
The campaigns uncovered 239 suspected cases of commercial concealment. Suspected violators were referred to the competent authorities for investigation and the application of deterrent penalties under the Anti-Concealment Law.
Inspection tours covered sectors including retail, food and beverages, auto parts, health, engineering, transport, logistics, and other commercial activities. The program operates under the Ministry of Commerce and is implemented in coordination with more than 20 government entities, including tax, customs, and municipal authorities.
Why it matters
Under the Anti-Concealment Law, penalties can reach imprisonment of up to five years and fines of up to SAR 5,000,000 for major offenses. Additional measures include business closure, revocation of commercial registration, license cancellation, and liquidation of operations, along with the obligation to pay all due zakat, taxes, and government fees. Non-Saudi violators face deportation and a permanent ban on returning to work in the Kingdom.
Individuals involved in concealment may also be banned from any commercial activity for five years after a final sentence. Certain procedural violations, such as failing to provide requested information or documents, can carry fines of up to SAR 500,000 and closure of the company for up to 90 days.
The August figures continue a strong enforcement pace, following 5,270 inspection tours in July. For residents and business owners alike, the campaign reinforces a fairer, more transparent market where legitimate enterprises can compete on equal footing.
