Saudi Aramco has set its September 2026 contract prices (CP) for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), raising the benchmark for both propane and butane. Propane was fixed at USD 625
The move represents an increase of USD 5 when the prices stood at USD 620 and USD 640 respectively. Using an indicative exchange rate of USD 1 to about SAR 3.75, the September figures translate to roughly SAR 2,344 475
The larger jump in butane widened the propane–butane spread to –USD 35 reflecting tighter relative supply for butane. A commonly referenced 35:65 propane–butane mix at these prices yields a weighted average of about USD 647.75 or roughly SAR 2,429 The company attributes the increase to tighter global petrochemical and LPG supply.
Why it matters
These contract prices are benchmark export figures used for international LPG contracts and downstream petrochemical pricing. They are not the same as domestic retail prices for LPG cylinders or piped gas inside the Kingdom. The September CPs serve as the reference for term cargoes loaded from Saudi Arabia during the month and for regulatory or tariff adjustments in importing countries that index to the Saudi benchmark.
For residents and businesses in Saudi Arabia, there is no indication that domestic consumer cylinder prices or regulated fees change mechanically with this September benchmark. The contract prices are published through the company's corporate channels to term buyers and traders, and no national e-government portal is involved in accessing or applying them.
