Health Ministry Urges Balanced School Breakfasts

As schools prepare to reopen for the new academic year, health authorities have issued back-to-school guidance encouraging parents to provide students with a balanced breakfast at home before heading to class. The advice frames a nutritious morning meal as a foundation for better concentration and school performance.

The guidance recommends that breakfast be diversified and well-balanced to preserve its nutritional value. It advises including carbohydrates, fruits, proteins, and vegetables, and suggests drinking a cup of water upon waking and continuing to drink water throughout school activities.

Parents are encouraged to offer healthy, nutritious foods such as dairy and fruits while limiting sweets. Separate guidance from the national food-regulatory authority echoes this approach, recommending that breakfast include milk or dairy products, grains — preferably whole grains — a source of protein, fruits or vegetables, and a moderate amount of fat.

Part of a wider awareness effort

The recommendations are part of ongoing educational content updated for the 2025–2026 period. A national nutrition-awareness initiative, delivered in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, launched school-focused campaigns in early 2026 emphasizing healthy, balanced meals and the value of a nutritious breakfast prepared by families.

The guidance is published as free public content and is delivered through official government digital channels and school-based awareness activities. There are no fees to access the material, no registration requirement, and no need to use any government application to benefit from the advice. It functions purely as public health guidance rather than a fee-based service — a simple, practical reminder for families across the Kingdom as the school year begins.
