Rafha Governorate is currently expanding its neighborhood sports fields and establishing specialized sports academies, in a move aimed at discovering athletic talent, developing young athletes, and encouraging community sports participation across the governorate.
The new and existing neighborhood fields host local tournaments, leagues, and competitions for different age groups. The activities are designed to help residents make productive use of leisure time, improve physical fitness, and reinforce teamwork and healthy habits.
The specialized academies offer structured training programs focused on technical and physical skill development, including scheduled sessions, fitness work, and skill drills in organized environments. These centers operate on a private or semi-private basis, typically charging monthly or seasonal training fees set by each academy. No standard government-set fees, uniform price caps, or centralized pricing tables have been published for Rafha's fields or academies; charges, where they apply, are determined by local municipality arrangements and each academy's management.
How the expansion is being driven
Land and investment opportunities for sports academies and fields in Rafha are being offered through the national municipal investment platform "فرص" (Foras), under the Northern Borders Region Municipality. The listings include plots designated for building, operating, and managing a sports academy and sports fields, with areas of around 5,400 m² for an academy and 5,275 m² for fields.
Investors wishing to compete for these projects can do so through the "فرص" portal under the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing. Participation requires purchasing bid documents and submitting tenders electronically by the stated deadlines. The 2026 municipal investment announcement for Rafha sets 14 June 2026 as the last date for purchasing tender booklets and opening envelopes for projects that include a sports academy and sports fields — a sign that the current expansion is being delivered through formal municipal investment competitions.
