A new contract has been signed to develop and operate an alternative-mobility network in the Saudi capital, in a step aimed at expanding transport options for residents and connecting short trips with the city's wider public-transport system.
Remat Al-Riyadh Development Company signed its first contract to build and run the network, while International Modern Industries Company will handle the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of the service.
The first phase covers roughly 22 kilometres along Olaya Street and Prince Abdulaziz bin Musaed bin Jalawi Street. The network is planned to include around 1,000 electric scooters and electric bicycles, offering a flexible option for short journeys across these busy corridors.
Designated parking locations will be set up to regulate where the vehicles are left and to link short rides with the broader public-transport network in the capital. The approach is intended to ease first- and last-mile travel, giving commuters an easier way to reach stations and key destinations.
For the community, the project adds a practical, sustainable mobility choice in two of the city's most active areas. Details such as fares, user fees, a launch date, booking steps, an official app, and operating hours have not yet been announced. Saudi Living will share updates as further information becomes available.
