6,000 Runners Join National Day Run in Historic Jeddah

Around 6,000 Saudi citizens and expatriates took part in the Green Spirit Run, a Saudi National Day event held on the morning of Friday, September 19, 2026, in the heart of Historic Jeddah's Al-Balad district.

The run was organized by Masafat Club in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports, the Sports for All Federation, and Jeddah Historic District. It offered two routes to suit different levels of participants: a 5 km course for professional and amateur runners, and a shorter 2 km distance designed for families and children.

Setting the race against the backdrop of Al-Balad's historic streets and heritage architecture gave the morning a distinctly local character, combining physical activity with the national celebration and the surroundings of one of Jeddah's most recognizable historic quarters.

Why it matters

Mass community runs like this one reflect the growing role of open, inclusive sporting events in Saudi cities. By welcoming both citizens and residents, and by providing a family-friendly distance alongside the competitive 5 km route, the event encouraged a wide range of people to take part in an active, outdoor National Day celebration.

Registration fees and the sign-up platform for the 2026 edition were not confirmed at the time of publication. Residents interested in future editions are advised to look out for official announcements ahead of the next event.
