Saudi Arabia has advanced to 29th place globally among 110 countries in the 2026 Travel & Tourism Development Index, marking continued progress in the Kingdom's fast-growing tourism sector.
The new ranking reflects a rise of three places compared with 2024, and a significant leap of 17 places since 2019. The Kingdom recorded an index score of 4.45 in the 2026 edition, an increase of roughly 7.8 percent.
The improvement highlights the steady development of Saudi Arabia's travel and tourism infrastructure, services, and overall appeal to visitors from around the world. Tourism has become a central pillar of the country's broader economic diversification goals under رؤية السعودية 2030.
Why it matters
For residents and expats living in the Kingdom, a stronger global tourism standing points to ongoing investment in attractions, transport, hospitality, and visitor services across major cities such as الرياض and جدة. The upward trend also signals expanding leisure and travel options for communities nationwide, along with growing opportunities in the tourism and hospitality industries.
The continued climb over recent years places Saudi Arabia among the most improved destinations globally, reinforcing its position as an emerging player in the international tourism landscape.
