Saudi Arabia has been formally confirmed as the host nation of the 2034 FIFA World Cup, with the decision ratified at an Extraordinary FIFA Congress on 11 December 2024. The confirmation places the Kingdom at the centre of world football for the coming decade.
The hosting plan is built around five host cities: الرياض, جدة, Al Khobar, Abha, and نيوم. A network of 15 stadiums is planned to meet FIFA capacity requirements, with a minimum of 40,000 seats for most matches and about 80,000 or more for the final.
The centrepiece is the new King Salman International Stadium in the القدية area of الرياض, planned as a roughly 92,000-seat venue set to stage the opening match and the final. As of 2026, it remains in early construction and groundwork stages.
Several existing venues are also part of the plan. King Fahd International Stadium in الرياض is operational and scheduled for renovation before 2034, while King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in جدة is set for upgrades. New and expanded venues in planning or early works include Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium in القدية (around 45,000 seats), Aramco Stadium in Al Khobar (around 45,000–46,000 seats), and waterfront and new-city stadiums in Al Khobar, Abha, and نيوم, including venues aligned with نيوم districts.
What this means for residents
For now, the tournament is at the national planning level. As of 2026, there are no Saudi-specific fees, registration steps, or dedicated أبشر, مقيم, قوى, ناجز, نفاذ, or توكلنا processes announced for the 2034 event. No official ticket prices in ريال سعودي, fan-visa fees, or local permit fees for spectators or volunteers have been published yet, and pricing, visa categories, and validity periods remain unannounced. سعودي ليفنج will share verified details as they are officially confirmed.
